Here's what happened at the December meeting at The Sullivan's home:

Membership reports and financials were not handed out due to scheduling problems, the reports will be sent out soon.

NEWS - Stanley Feingold reported that the Spring Walk event is up in the air; they're still trying to work with the hospital.

Recap of races: Merck Forest/Mountain Goat - no representative).Fall Foliage - race went really well. Read For Your Life - course change, not sure about next year. John Pelton wore the best costume, the awards were okay, the food was good. Running of the Turkeys - over 200 finishers, lots of families come out; Jim Sullivan doesn't want the race to get any bigger; no trouble this year!

Upcoming races: Winter Carnival will have a new name and a new date in 2001 - Sunday, March 4th; same location (Manchester Rec Park), hopefully better weather.

Discussion of the 2001 Race Schedule. Some races really good, others not so good, some have too loose a connection between the race director and the club. This year we need to have the schedule set in January. Our guidelines state that RD must attend club meeting. Will have a mandatory meeting of RDs for 2001 on January 16th (Jack Quinn to find location). Any race not represented will not be on the BKVR schedule next year.

John Pelton and Jack Quinn are going to talk to Jim Sullivan about the newsletter. Discussion of club jobs: the biggest time commitments are the web, the newsletter, the secretary/treasurer, and directing the bigger races (the Maple Leaf, Bennington). Too few people are (still) doing too much. Talked about possibly paying for help, but agreed that money isn't the issue. A few people wondered if the Grand Prix is maybe a waste of time - we'll have to talk about this more.

Talked about whether to try to have the Annual Meeting at the Equinox again, this time paying instead of bringing food in. Everyone thought we should pursue this; Bruce Piispanen and Scott Printz will pursue possible locations in Bennington if this doesn't work out. Short discussion about whether we would try to get a speaker. Scott Printz will talk with John Reilly. Skiers requested that it start later than last year (5:00ish).

Anita Gabalski talked to Dennis Brooks about new clothing. Agreed that we would have a winter line and a summer line, and only buy pre-ordered items. Stanley Feingold would like to see the NEWS logo on some clothing. Order form in newsletter.

Jack Quinn is coming up with an area race calendar for the year - if you hear of a race let Jack know. Scott Printz will also post to calendar on the web. Lots of compliments to Scott Printz on the re-designed website - looks GREAT!!

Donna Ruppel reported that the Greyhound Gallop will take place at the Saratoga Battlefield October 7th.

Scott Printz reported that the Moonlight race is set, as is the Turkeys.

Stanley Feingold requested that if the ABC Relay happens in 2001 there be a walkers division.

Next meeting Wednesday, February 7, 7:00 pm, at the Green River Inn in Sandgate.
