One of the great joys of being an athlete is to be able to share your experiences with a family member. For the past two years, it has been very exciting to be able to have my son fly into New Hampshire from Wyoming (yes, Wyoming) to participate in the Timberman Triathlon with me. Last year, he (and his wife) did the half Iron-Man Triathlon and I did the Sprint Triathlon. This year was different because he has not been able to train for the half Iron Man. He elected to do the sprint. Now can you imagine the thrill racing in the same race?? We warmed up together, went into the water together and started together. Even our bikes were racked within ten feet.    He came out of the water first and was off on his bike as I exited from the water. The next time I saw him – with a high five – was when I finished the bike and ready for the run and there he was cheering me on. He had completed the race! As I came across the finish line I could hear his voice – “great dad – nice finish”. Is there a bigger way to finish a triathlon!!!
